On June 15, the National Library of the Chuvash Republic presented the book by Alexander Pushkin, the classic of Russian poetry, “Чӗрем ман юлӗ сирӗнпе” (“And I leave my heart to you”) in the Chuvash language. The translation was made by the national poet of Chuvashia Valeriy Turgay, honored culture worker of the Chuvash Republic.

In recent years, Valeriy Turgay has been actively engaged in translating and one by one he has been presenting his new editions. For example, the connoisseurs of literature have already become fond of his Chuvash translations of poets Gabdulla Tukay, Mustay Karim, Kaysyn Kuliyev, Kerim Otarov, Rasul Gamzatov, Taras Shevchenko, Mussa Jalil, Li Bai and Du Fu and other outstanding poets, of Anton Chekhov’s beautiful stories.

In the new collection “Чӗрем ман юлӗ сирӗнпе” 65 Pushkin’s poems in the original and their translations into the Chuvash language were included. Famous literary critics Vitaliy Stanyal and Yuriy Artemyev, writers and poets Raisa Sarbi, Vasiliy Pushkin, Arseniy Tarasov, Vasiliy Kerven, Ara Mishshi, Lidiya Sarine and many others, journalists, library workers, teachers gathered to congratulate the talented translator with this significant event. “Pushkin translated in Chuvash once again shows how rich and expressive our language is”, – said Valeriy Turgay in his speech.

The poems of A. Pushkin in the Russian and Chuvash languages were performed by the translator Valeriy Turgay and the honored artist of the Chuvash Republic Nadezhda Kirillova.

The folklore ensemble “Teley” of the Cheboksary district (the director Natalya Arsenyeva) also performed in the presentation.
